The 2018 Chesley Award

The 2018 event of the year was SpaceX launching a Tesla Roadster into space on the test flight of the Falcon Heavy, eventually carrying the roadster beyond the orbit of Mars.

The award, therefore, is a translucent blue with white clouds and polar cap blown glass Earth approximately 3" (7.6cm) in diameter, resting upon a blown glass transparent white crystal hemisphere, approximately 5" (12.7cm) in diameter. Heading away from Earth can be seen the glass red roadster with its white spacesuited driver "Starman". The sculpture stands approximately 7" (17.8cm) tall.

The Chesley Award is presented by the Association of Science Fiction & Fantasy Artists each year to leaders in the genré. The award is named after Chesley Bonestell, the Father of Modern Space Art.

We are honored to be part of his ongoing legacy.
